Legal Power-Subjection Relations: Ontological Analysis and Modeling Pattern

چکیده
The development of dependable information systems in legal contexts requires a precise understanding the subtleties underlying phenomena. According to modern philosophy law, much these phenomena are relational nature. In this paper, we employ theoretically well-grounded core ontology (UFO-L) conduct an ontological analysis focused on fundamental relation, namely, power-subjection relation. We show that certain cases, relations primitive, i.e., by means institutional acts, other can be generated from them. Examples include rights and duties, permissions non-rights, liberties, secondary power-subjection, etc. As contribution practice conceptual modeling, leveraging result our analysis, propose modeling pattern, which is then applied model real-world case tax law.

An ontological analysis of states: Organizations vs. legal persons
The purpose of this paper is to argue states are not organizations, but rather the objective legal persons of international law. The ontological similarities and differences between states and organizations are examined, but, by drawing upon literature in political geography and international law, ultimately shows that states cannot be organizations based in large part on the fact that states c...
متن کاملA Pattern for the Representation of Legal Relations in a Legal Core Ontology
This paper extends UFO-L, a Legal Core Ontology (LCO) based on Robert Alexy’s Theory of Constitutional Rights and grounded on the Unified Foundational Ontology (UFO). We present the first pattern of UFO-L’s patterns catalogue and its application. The general idea is to use these ontological patterns to support the modeling of legal concepts in conceptual models of the legal domain. Moreover, ou...
متن کاملIdentification of Ontological Relations Using Formal Concept Analysis
In this paper we present an approach for the automatic identification of relations in ontologies of restricted domain. We use the evidence found in a corpus associated to the same domain of the ontology for determining the validity of the ontological relations. Our approach employs formal concept analysis, a method used for the analysis of data, but in this case used for relations discovery in ...
متن کاملOntological modeling
This survey is aimed at analyzing some among the most relevant ontological modeling approaches. The semantic role of ontologies is emphasized. Classification of ontological models and languages focusing on their basic features is presented. Examples of applications of ontologies in different areas are also provided.
